Springtime bursts forth in powerful new compositions

7pm Composer – Performer Panel Discussion (free of charge)

Hyo-shin Na, Dark Study(2013) & Morning Study(2011)
**Dark Study  (oboe, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, percussion)
Morning Study (piccolo, flute, clarinet, violin, viola, cello, bass, harp, percussion)

These two works by Korean-American Hyo-shin Na reflect upon natural sounds heard in the composer's backyard, during periods of night (Dark Study) and dawn (Morning Study).

Jack Body Kick in the Arse  (2013-14) is a virtuosic piano trio that is an athletic and maniacally jovial expression of human perseverance, from the rump on up.

Margaret Brouwer Skyriding(1992) (flute, violin, cello, piano) is a transcendent pastoral of imaginatively lyrical countenances.

Casey Cangelosi (U.S.A.) - Theatric no 1 (2002) A hypnotic and irresistibly clever  percussion duet, for two players sharing three roto-toms.

**Dark Study was co-commissioned by the Daegu International Contemporary Music Festival, New Music Works, and the Seoul Modern Ensemble. This performance marks the U.S. premiere of this work.
