AMERICAN NATIVISM
The rising spirit of Native American cultures can be felt throughout the worlds of creative expression. Recent generations of Native Peoples have brought new and unprecedented dimensions to the Western canon. The music of Raven Chacon, Jerod Impichchaachaaha Tate, Leilehua Lanzilotti and the late Louis Ballard share a spiritual aesthetic that speaks from a grounded sensibility. We are beginning to learn of the lifelong strengths that Native Americans draw from their deep roots of ancestry and place. Their art grows from traditions that inherently unite the creative process with an implacable moral compass.
